Something Good- Day 366

Welcome to 2021! I have enjoyed writing these blog posts over the past year. They have helped me remember what is important and encouraged me to always look for the good.

I have been burnt out at work lately. It has been hard to go to work every day and stay motivated. I decided to take the next two weeks off from work to take a break from everything. I counted down my drawer after the bank closed and handed over my keys to my coworker. It felt so relieving to know that I do not have to return to work for 18 days. I am looking forward to my time off and hope it will rejuvenate me to return in better spirits. After work, I went to a friend’s house to celebrate the new year. We ate and talked and had fun.

I wish you all the best. Thank you for following me this year. I hope your new year is filled with goodness and that you take the time to see the good in what surrounds you.

Something Good- Day 330-332

I did not feel well at work on Wednesday and went home a little early. We watched a show until I felt better. Then, we went to the grocery store to get a few last minute Thanksgiving ingredients.

We woke up early on Thursday to start cooking food. My sister made me chilequiles for breakfast. We realized shortly after that we forgot a key ingredient to our meal. Luckily, we were able to find someone that had it to spare. I was grateful to feel much better because there was quite a bit of shoveling to do before leaving the house.

I went back to work today. It was pretty quiet because most people want to be at the store rather than the bank on Black Friday. I forgot my lunch, but my sister was kind enough to bring it while she went shopping with a friend. I cruised around one store with them, but we avoided most places because they were too crowded. We did get in a bit of online shopping though. After work, we went to a friend’s house for a Thanksgiving meal and some games. It was fun, and they sent us home with leftovers.

I have been trying to wake up earlier for work lately because I know winter weather can be unpredictable. I was surprised when I arrived at work to see that one of my coworkers was back. She had a cold last week but luckily tested negative for Covid, so she was able to return to work today. It was nice to have her back because we have been struggling to cover everyone’s shifts for work lately. We still had some setbacks during the day, but it went a lot smoother with three tellers.

Something Good- Day 322-324

This has been a difficult week. We have had our bank lobby closed all week because we have so many people out sick right now. I went to donate plasma on Tuesday and was told that my iron was barely too low, so I had to go back the next day. Wednesday is a very busy day at the plasma center, so I had to wait longer than normal and almost double what I had planned. I also tried adjusting my medication schedule to the morning because I felt it might be more effective. However, I always forget to take medicine in the morning, so I ended up missing a couple doses, which made me more depressed than normal. But… This is about something good that happened every day. So… Here goes…

Tuesday was calmer at work than Monday. We had three tellers, instead of two, which helped a lot. Wednesday was a slower day at work, which made my long donation process a minor inconvenience for my coworkers rather than a hectic extra hour. I was also able to help my sister finish all her homework Wednesday night before her deadlines. Today was a pretty good day at work. I dropped by a couple houses after work to pick up items. My sister sold a few things online, so we were able to get a new tank for some fishes we adopted. I told my sister we would only get another fish if it was free, but this free fish happened to be a little big for our tank. She earned a new tank though, and we will be transferring them to it tomorrow.

Work was crazy today. Both our managers are still out sick. Another teller was out sick today. And Mondays are always a little busier. On top of that, we had someone drop off a large sum of coin to be counted. At the end of the day, I did not even balance properly. We did get out mostly on time though, and I was able to get to bed early tonight.

Work was a bit crazy today. Both our managers were out sick, as well as another teller. And it was busier than normal because of the holiday yesterday. Luckily, we had planned a potluck for today, so no one had to leave the branch for lunch. That made it easier to get our lunches in while being short staffed.

I had work off today. It was Veteran’s day, so the bank was closed. We met up with one of my sister’s former teachers for lunch. It was fun to get to know her and for my sister to be able to see her. Afterwards, we did some bargain shopping and got some amazing deals.

Something Good- Day 314-315

Yesterday we decided to decorate for Christmas. Although I am usually adamant about making sure Thanksgiving comes first, I knew it would make my sister happy. I think that given the year we have had, Thanksgiving can share with Christmas this year.

Today was our first real snow here. The roads were slippery, and most people chose not to go out if they could avoid it. The bank was fairly slow, which meant we got out right on time. We ate homemade dinner and then sat down to watch a show.

This has been a busy week at work, trying to fix problems for customers. I have been working with this couple who had a very frustrating situation with their account and were ready to leave the bank over it. Luckily, I was able to get it resolved for them. The wife was so grateful that she brought all this food to the bank as a thank you. I was just happy I could solve this for them because it is important to me that people have their needs met.

After work, we spent time with a friend and showed her a house that has amazing Halloween decorations. Here’s just a small glimpse of it.

Today was a rough day. Tuesdays after a holiday are always extra busy at the bank because we have to make all the weekend deposits plus two days worth of regular deposits. Anyway, I finally got to lunch around 3:30, which left less than a half hour before closing time when I returned. I did have a good lunch though, and we got treats after dinner to help brighten the day.
