Something Good- Day 360-365

I went to my brother’s house for Christmas day. We arrived later than I had planned because I wanted to clean the house before we left, but we ate dinner and then opened gifts with them.

I spent the next few days at my brother’s house. I was able to hold the baby for a while and spend a lot of time with my nieces and nephews. Saturday, we took the kids out to lunch at a pizza buffet. We watched Soul and then went to a light show about 30 minutes from their house. It was a bit of a drive, but definitely worth it.

We had a birthday party on Sunday for my oldest nephew. We had lunch and cake. Then, he opened his presents. We left afterwards to come back home.

Monday was a pretty good day at work. My boss finally came back after being out sick for three months. We were all excited to see her because it has been so long. The day went smoothly, and I was even able to donate plasma during my lunch.

Yesterday we had homemade barbeque meatball subs for dinner. I signed up for a bank account to get a special cash back offer, which I was really excited about. Then, we watched a movie and relaxed.

Today we went to the store to check out holiday clearance items. We bought a few gifts to save for next year and some candy and other things. I am looking forward to taking some time off work over the next couple weeks and spending time with friends in the new year.

Something Good- Day 290-291

Yesterday, I came home to a complete overhaul of my garden plot. My sister and her friend had removed all the dead plants to get it ready for winter. I have wanted to work on our lawn and garden for a while now, but never feel like I have time. My sister also sold our old fridge, which stopped working a while back, to make room for a new one. We went to dinner to celebrate all her hard work so she would not have to cook.

I woke up early today and did a couple loads of laundry before heading out to donate plasma. We also did some shopping for essentials and Halloween decorations. Afterwards, we made a delicious pork roast dinner and took some to the missionaries in our area.

I had today off of work, so we got some things done around the house. I fixed a pair of pants and a shirt this morning that needed buttons sewn on and then did a couple loads of laundry. My sister washed the dishes and cleaned the stove. Then, we bought more tissues because I go through those really fast. We also went out to eat and got my sister’s birthday present. It’s still a few weeks early, but it is rare for me to have a day off to go to certain stores that close early now.

Something Good- Day 199-200

Friday was a fairly calm day at work, which was unusual for a Friday. I was glad to get out on time though and headed home for a barbecue. After that we played Sardines and then went star gazing. It was a fun day overall.

Yesterday we cleaned and organized the house. We set up a bunk bed in the spare bedroom and did a lot of laundry. We were grateful that our Airbnb renters came late at night, so we had enough time to get a couple extra loads finished.

Something Good- Day 156-159

Four days worth today… I have been avoiding the internet with all the ignorant comments and acts of violence being posted recently. Sometimes for your mental health, it is best to stay away than try to change someone’s mind.

Thursday I was able to wash all the dishes in the sink. I can keep up with running the dishwasher on a regular basis, but pots, pans, and other hand wash only items can pile up after a while.

Friday we watched a movie and did some necessary shopping.

Saturday I was able to donate plasma and sell some stuff to declutter the house.

Today we had our first meeting as facilitators for a self-reliance program. I am excited to help our group members learn the skills they need to get better jobs.

Something Good- Day 140

I really like things being clean and organized. Unfortunately, I don’t always have the time to organize everything as I would like. Today, though, I was able to sort through my emails. I haven’t gone through and deleted emails for months, so I had over 10,000. Most of them were junk mail because I use that email for subscriptions and anything else I do not need to see right away. It was satisfying to have a clean inbox again though, and I added filters to help keep it clean in the future.

Something Good- Day 123 & 124

Yesterday we organized the house a bit, fixed a bookshelf and rearranged furniture. Then we worked on our mother’s day gift. It was good to get some work done.

Today we were we able to do a video call with my parents, sister’s family, and brother’s family. It was good to see everyone and be able to spend time with them, even if it was virtual. I cannot wait to be able to visit them in person again. We are planning a trip to see them in a few weeks when restrictions lift.

Something Good- Day 102

Our new renters needed some last minute help getting their old apartment cleaned out today. They had contracted with someone to get their place cleaned, but the person had a family emergency and had to cancel. The husband asked if either my sister or I would be willing to help for what he would have paid the other cleaners. I told my sister that I would split the money with her if she cleaned my house while I went to help clean the apartment. It was a lot of work to get the apartment in good condition, but it was nice to come back to a clean house. Then, we decided to use some of the money to buy food so we did not have to cook after cleaning all afternoon.
