I had work off today. It was Veteran’s day, so the bank was closed. We met up with one of my sister’s former teachers for lunch. It was fun to get to know her and for my sister to be able to see her. Afterwards, we did some bargain shopping and got some amazing deals.
It has been a while since my last post. I have been falling asleep quickly the past few days. Wednesday and Thursday were slower at work. I dropped by the store on my way home to pick up some items. Then, we watched a show before heading to bed. It was my favorite, The Good Doctor, which I am so glad is back.
Thursday morning, I moved our cat back to the garage after having him upstairs for a few days. Our other cat was not getting along with him, and I decided he was a bit too active to be a house cat. He seemed to do better with eating after we moved him back.
Friday we decided to go out to eat since we got a coupon in the mail. The leftovers lasted us two more meals, so it was not a bad deal.
Saturday, we had a friend come over for a bit. We had lunch and dinner with her and watched a movie while my sister finished homework.
I went back to church today for the first time in a while. We have been cautious about going back to church because quite a few members tested positive for Covid a few weeks ago, and we cannot afford to get sick. It was a good meeting though, and they said they plan to start broadcasting the meeting so more people can participate in the future.
Today is my sister’s birthday. We left my brother’s house early this morning to spend some time with a couple of her friends on our way back home. We also stopped a couple times along the way to shop and eat. We were able to find the last book of a series she has been collecting, as well as several movies and books at the local thrift store. We ended the night with one of her favorite desserts, pumpkin cheesecake.
We spent most of Friday night packing for our trip to see family. I did spend some time with a friend that I had not seen in a while, as well.
Saturday morning, I went to get an oil change and have my tires serviced. Afterwards, I donated plasma, and we went out for lunch. We arrived at my brother’s house a little later than planned, but the kids were excited to see us.
Today was pretty mellow. We had home church, then watched some movies and played with the kids. At the end of the night, we took the kids for a drive to see Halloween decorations.
This has been a busy week at work, trying to fix problems for customers. I have been working with this couple who had a very frustrating situation with their account and were ready to leave the bank over it. Luckily, I was able to get it resolved for them. The wife was so grateful that she brought all this food to the bank as a thank you. I was just happy I could solve this for them because it is important to me that people have their needs met.
After work, we spent time with a friend and showed her a house that has amazing Halloween decorations. Here’s just a small glimpse of it.
We had a friend over for lunch today. We repurposed the pork roast we made last night into meat for tacos. It wasn’t quite as tender and flavorful as my normal carnitas but still good. Afterwards, we went for a drive to see Halloween decorations. We saw some pretty cool houses and made stops to take pictures with the beautiful sky in the background.
Today we watched some videos on scripture study and listened to music for home church. Afterwards, we ate lunch and realized we had more food than we could eat before it went bad. My sister suggested taking some to a family from our church. It just happened that they needed the help today, so we were able to bless someone else and prevent wasting food. We finished the night by watching “Letters to God,” which hit closer to home tonight than most nights but was still enjoyable.
I was exhausted last night and fell asleep while writing this. A couple good things happened yesterday. My sister made stuffed bell peppers for dinner. Then we went to a friend’s house to watch a movie. The most exciting thing though, was my 4th nephew was born! I’ll get to go visit him and my brother’s family in a couple weeks.
Today we went to the zoo because they had a community appreciation day. We got in for $1 and a can of food. We had fun walking around and got free cotton candy, which I haven’t had in a very long time.
This really does not feel like my story to tell, but my sister has been struggling with pain over the last few days. After the night in the hospital, she was told to manage the pain with medicine and wait for it to get better. Yesterday, she had a friend come over “to help out” but ended up watching movies instead. Our dishes were piling up and needed to be done soon, but she was in no condition to do them. I planned to do the dishes when I got home from work, but another friend came by to bring my sister lunch and helped with our dishes before she left. I cannot express how grateful I am for the people that care for us, check in with us, and express their love and concern. It definitely means a lot, especially when we are struggling.
Friday we went to a straw maze with some friends. It was somewhat frustrating, and my eyes started stinging, so we left without finishing it. On the way out though, there was a frozen yogurt worker that let you spin for a prize. We all got prizes and went to cash them in for our yogurts.
Yesterday we went to Mesa Falls. Afterwards, we went to Five11 Main for dinner. The food was really good and we enjoyed ourselves.
Today we unplugged our upstairs fridge to defrost it. We are going to try to get it out before the end of the week to put the old one back in. My sister thought the slabs of ice we broke off the inside of the freezer were fun to play with. We also played some games and watched a movie tonight.
