This is not a normal year. I think we are all craving light and happiness and joy a little more this year. So, even though I absolutely love Thanksgiving and feel that it is extremely important to express gratitude at this time, I am all for Christmas lights this year. Today we went to a friend’s house to drop off some puzzles for them. They unexpectedly invited us to eat dinner with their family. Afterwards, we drove around looking at Christmas lights and then watched Polar Express to end the night.
We spent most of Friday afternoon getting ready for Halloween. We made candy chutes and signs for our door. Then, we watched a Halloween movie.
Saturday morning was spent shopping for a new refrigerator. I bought one that was more expensive than originally planned but will arrive earlier and probably fill my needs more long term. I ran a few more errands afterwards, then came back home to pass out candy.
Today was a somewhat stressful day. We had new renters move in last night and realized they are allergic to cats, which is somewhat problematic since we have two cats. We had planned to keep one cat downstairs in the garage but decided we might try something different instead. We spent most of the day rearranging furniture while deciding what to do with our garage cat. We are still working on a final solution but hope it will all work out soon.
Can you believe we are on day 300 already? We are so close to the end of the year.
Today, we did a photo shoot with my two week old nephew. Afterwards, we went out to lunch. Then, we took flowers and a pumpkin to the cemetery for my nephew that passed a few years ago. We ended the day with a delicious homemade dinner and a movie.
We spent most of Friday night packing for our trip to see family. I did spend some time with a friend that I had not seen in a while, as well.
Saturday morning, I went to get an oil change and have my tires serviced. Afterwards, I donated plasma, and we went out for lunch. We arrived at my brother’s house a little later than planned, but the kids were excited to see us.
Today was pretty mellow. We had home church, then watched some movies and played with the kids. At the end of the night, we took the kids for a drive to see Halloween decorations.
The last two days have been much better at work. We have been able to keep up with everything for the most part. Yesterday I was able to donate plasma during my lunch break, which has not happened in quite a while. After work, my sister surprised me with a clean kitchen, so I took her to the store to get Halloween stuff.
Today we went grocery shopping and were able to get everything we need for the next week. Afterwards, we used a coupon to get ice cream. It was delicious, though I will probably regret it when I get a stomachache later. We ended the night watching cartoons and eating popcorn.
Today we watched some videos on scripture study and listened to music for home church. Afterwards, we ate lunch and realized we had more food than we could eat before it went bad. My sister suggested taking some to a family from our church. It just happened that they needed the help today, so we were able to bless someone else and prevent wasting food. We finished the night by watching “Letters to God,” which hit closer to home tonight than most nights but was still enjoyable.
I was exhausted last night and fell asleep while writing this. A couple good things happened yesterday. My sister made stuffed bell peppers for dinner. Then we went to a friend’s house to watch a movie. The most exciting thing though, was my 4th nephew was born! I’ll get to go visit him and my brother’s family in a couple weeks.
Today we went to the zoo because they had a community appreciation day. We got in for $1 and a can of food. We had fun walking around and got free cotton candy, which I haven’t had in a very long time.
Yesterday we stayed up late watching a movie. We were thinking about going to Bear World but decided to go to the thrift store instead to find parts for our Halloween costumes. We were able to find everything we needed and got a couple nice shirts as well.
Today we watched a general conference for our church. I love the call to be better and to grow closer to God. Then we took a nap and played some games to finish the night.
I have been listening to audio books on my commute for the last week or so. I just finished the second Hunger Games book, Catching Fire. It was so good! Then, we watched the movie tonight. It wasn’t as great as the book, but it was fun to see the differences and have some background into the characters’ thoughts.
I have realized that it doesn’t do me much good to come up with one good thing every day if I don’t actually do it every day, so I’m going to try to be better about posting this every night, even if it is not perfect every time.
But for now, I’ll catch up on the last few days. We have been short staffed at work since Friday. The nice thing about that is my boss has been buying us lunch, so we can have a working lunch instead of our usual hour break. On top of only having two tellers on Friday, our system failed overnight and the transaction program we use was out of service for the first half of the day. The day went surprisingly well though and aside from a couple minor setbacks, we had a pretty smooth day.
Saturday, we got another cat! I told my sister that it was fine as long as he was a garage/ outdoor cat because our indoor cat does not share space well. Then, we spent the day with friends. I bought pizza and dropped my sister off to watch movies while I went to donate plasma.
We spent a lot of time with the cat on Sunday and had some church time with my sister’s family.
Monday was another busy day at work since our assistant manager had to go home due to possible Covid exposure. I was a bit overwhelmed, but my coworkers are awesome and helped calm me down. We made cookies with the kids Monday night, and I ate quite a few cookies.
Tonight we watched a movie I had rented from Redbox since they gave me a free rental. The kids were looking forward to pumpkin painting/ carving, but we decided to do that tomorrow instead.
