Something Good- Day 304-306

We spent most of Friday afternoon getting ready for Halloween. We made candy chutes and signs for our door. Then, we watched a Halloween movie.

Our Halloween set up

Saturday morning was spent shopping for a new refrigerator. I bought one that was more expensive than originally planned but will arrive earlier and probably fill my needs more long term. I ran a few more errands afterwards, then came back home to pass out candy.

Today was a somewhat stressful day. We had new renters move in last night and realized they are allergic to cats, which is somewhat problematic since we have two cats. We had planned to keep one cat downstairs in the garage but decided we might try something different instead. We spent most of the day rearranging furniture while deciding what to do with our garage cat. We are still working on a final solution but hope it will all work out soon.

Today is my sister’s birthday. We left my brother’s house early this morning to spend some time with a couple of her friends on our way back home. We also stopped a couple times along the way to shop and eat. We were able to find the last book of a series she has been collecting, as well as several movies and books at the local thrift store. We ended the night with one of her favorite desserts, pumpkin cheesecake.

I have been delaying writing this tonight. There has been a lot on my mind with Covid controversies, work issues, and personal issues. We also had a frustrating experience with dinner tonight. But… We did get some Christmas presents ready tonight. We are trying to be very practical in our gifts this year while still keeping an element of fun. We also were able to find some gifts for my nephew, who is turning two years old next month. I find it difficult to buy gifts for that age, but we found some great stuff that I think both he and his parents would like.

Yesterday, I came home to a complete overhaul of my garden plot. My sister and her friend had removed all the dead plants to get it ready for winter. I have wanted to work on our lawn and garden for a while now, but never feel like I have time. My sister also sold our old fridge, which stopped working a while back, to make room for a new one. We went to dinner to celebrate all her hard work so she would not have to cook.

I woke up early today and did a couple loads of laundry before heading out to donate plasma. We also did some shopping for essentials and Halloween decorations. Afterwards, we made a delicious pork roast dinner and took some to the missionaries in our area.

Something Good- Day 288-289

The last two days have been much better at work. We have been able to keep up with everything for the most part. Yesterday I was able to donate plasma during my lunch break, which has not happened in quite a while. After work, my sister surprised me with a clean kitchen, so I took her to the store to get Halloween stuff.

Today we went grocery shopping and were able to get everything we need for the next week. Afterwards, we used a coupon to get ice cream. It was delicious, though I will probably regret it when I get a stomachache later. We ended the night watching cartoons and eating popcorn.

I had today off of work, so we got some things done around the house. I fixed a pair of pants and a shirt this morning that needed buttons sewn on and then did a couple loads of laundry. My sister washed the dishes and cleaned the stove. Then, we bought more tissues because I go through those really fast. We also went out to eat and got my sister’s birthday present. It’s still a few weeks early, but it is rare for me to have a day off to go to certain stores that close early now.

Yesterday we stayed up late watching a movie. We were thinking about going to Bear World but decided to go to the thrift store instead to find parts for our Halloween costumes. We were able to find everything we needed and got a couple nice shirts as well.

Today we watched a general conference for our church. I love the call to be better and to grow closer to God. Then we took a nap and played some games to finish the night.

Something Good- Day 258-261

I called out of work on Monday because my stomach was acting up. I spent most of the morning sitting on the couch because I was worried that lying down would make things worse. When I felt a bit better, we went grocery shopping and then decided to take a trip to see the llama farm. The kids and my sisters loved it.

Tuesday was a busy day at work, catching up with everything I missed Monday. We went to Costa Vida for dinner and then watched a movie before heading to bed.

Yesterday was a slower day at work, which was good because our cat started having issues and I was able to come home early to take her to the vet. He said she was impacted and cleared her out. We gave her a bath when we got home. She seemed to do much better after that.

Today was another good day at work. We were able to get everything done without too many issues. After work, we went out to eat because I had a coupon at one of our favorite places. They messed up our order and gave us dole whip for free to apologize. I enjoyed it, but my sister brought hers home to the kids because she was full already.

Something Good- Day 255-257

I came home very hungry on Friday, so we decided to eat out rather than cook something. We went to three different restaurants that all had long lines. While driving through the parking lot, we noticed that Jack-in-the-box had no line and decided to go there instead. I felt better after eating and we stopped at the grocery store to get some necessities before heading home. We spent the rest of the night trying to figure out financial aid for my sister, but we finally got everything done.

Saturday morning I scrolled through Facebook while eating breakfast and saw a posting for free furniture. I quickly changed and drove over. I was able to get a couple chairs for our basement and some cabinets. By noon, we had turned the cabinets into a makeshift play kitchen. Then, we took a quick trip to donate plasma and check out the thrift store. We found a stove for $0.50, which worked perfectly for the new kitchen we had made. We spent the rest of the night at my friend’s house for dinner and a movie.

Today, we went to church and had lunch there with friends. Afterwards, we updated the kitchen with pictures, a makeshift sink, and organized the supplies in the drawers. It looked great when we were all done, and the kids loved it!

Something Good- Day 241-244

Friday we went to our friends’ house for a while. We were able to talk for a while and play with their pets.

We went to the zoo on Saturday. The kids loved it, and we all had fun. Afterwards, I helped watch my nieces so that my sister could go on a date with her husband. We had pizza and played games.

We went to church on Sunday for a special meeting. Afterwards, we were able to pick vegetables from our friends’ garden.

Today was a good day at work. We had dinner and played games with my sister’s family when I came home. Then we went grocery shopping to plan dinners this week.
