Something Good- Day 318-320

We went to my friend’s house on Friday. I have not been able to spend much time with her lately because of traveling and work. Especially with so many of my coworkers being sick, I did not want to take any chances. It was nice to see her though, even with masks and social distancing.

We did a garage sale on Saturday, which was a little crazy because of the cold here. We told people to come around to the side door and made a path through the snow. Only a few people came, but we made a decent amount and got rid of some stuff we did not need. It has been nice to declutter the house a bit, even though there is still more I would like to sell. Then that night, we watched “Annie get your gun” at the local high school. They did a great job, and we were all very impressed.

Today, we were able to do home church for the first time on television. We decided not to attend in person when it started back up because my sister is very prone to catching illnesses, but they finally decided to broadcast our congregation this week. It was nice to see familiar faces on the screen and participate in a way.

Something Good- Day 304-306

We spent most of Friday afternoon getting ready for Halloween. We made candy chutes and signs for our door. Then, we watched a Halloween movie.

Our Halloween set up

Saturday morning was spent shopping for a new refrigerator. I bought one that was more expensive than originally planned but will arrive earlier and probably fill my needs more long term. I ran a few more errands afterwards, then came back home to pass out candy.

Today was a somewhat stressful day. We had new renters move in last night and realized they are allergic to cats, which is somewhat problematic since we have two cats. We had planned to keep one cat downstairs in the garage but decided we might try something different instead. We spent most of the day rearranging furniture while deciding what to do with our garage cat. We are still working on a final solution but hope it will all work out soon.

Something Good- Day 235

I am in Utah visiting my brother’s family for the weekend. Before Covid, I would come every month or so to visit. It would usually just be for the weekend, but I love seeing my family. It has been more sporadic in recent months, but I am grateful to spend the weekend here while waiting to pick up my sister from the airport on Monday.

Something Good- Day 193-194

I realized I missed Thursday in my last post. (So this is technically days 191 and 194, but it is easier to keep track this way.) Anyway, it was a rough night, so it was hard to think of something good. I went to bed early and just laid there feeling depressed. My sister did come to check on me though and spent time with me just so I would not be alone.

Today we were able to see a friend that moved away last year. We hung out outside and kept our distance, but it was good to catch up for a while. We also noticed that our raspberries are starting to ripen. I was able to pick a small handful to share with our friend.

Something Good- Day 153-155

I have had a lot going on lately, so it has been hard to keep up with these posts.

Monday we met some friends to get Italian ice. It was nice to say hello to everyone, most of whom we have not seen for months.

Tuesday we organized my games, which was quite the endeavour. I have more space in my closet now though, and it looks nicer.

Today we watched a couple original Pokemon episodes while eating cookies and drinking hot chocolate. It brought up feelings of nostalgia. I love drawing Pokemon for my nieces and nephews, but it has been a while since I have watched the older episodes.

Something Good- Day 143-145

We have been visiting family for the last few days. We plan to return home tomorrow. This has been such a wonderful time though. My nephew hugged me and did not want to let go. I have been able to hold my baby niece. I know that the world is still not back to normal and that we really do need to be careful, but it is nice to live in a place where things are calmer. It is nice to know that our small towns can slowly return to normal. I feel for the people that live in highly populated areas where the threat of illness is much more prevalent. I know that this trip will necessitate being more careful in the next few weeks, but I am so glad I have finally been able to see family again.

Something Good- Day 129

I picked up our teenage friend after work today. We had homemade cheeseburgers and milkshakes. Then we went through a car wash and got some snacks. We went back to her house and watched a movie together to end the night. I am glad we live in a small town that makes the transition back to normal life much easier than it would be in urban areas.

Something Good- Day 116 & 117

Yesterday was a catch up day. I washed all my clothes, got an oil change, switched out my winter tires, and then helped my sister with her homework. It was not an exciting day, but I was glad to be able to do everything.

I was able to have church with my family today. We did a video call and had music and a lesson together. We are planning to do it again next week and may even be able to get more family participating. It was nice to feel a little closer to family and be able to see them more.

Something Good- Day 111

Today was incredibly busy at work. It did not feel overwhelming, but we kept busy the entire time. At the end of the night, one of the tellers was missing a large amount of money, and we weren’t sure what happened. I am grateful for how we all work together though when someone needs help. I helped my coworker look through everything. Then, my manager helped. We were there later than we should have been, but it was such a good environment.

Prior to this time of quarantines and social distancing, I was passively looking for another job. My coworkers all knew I disliked working at a bank and did not intend to stay long. Now though, I am so grateful for my coworkers and the care the bank has shown me as an employee. I have been humbled by this experience, and it has brought me closer to my coworkers. It is in times of darkness and hurt and loneliness that we find out what lives in us and those around us. We find out what means the most when it matters most.

Something Good- Day 109 & 110

I fell asleep last night while writing my good thing, but yesterday was a good day. We went for a drive through Bear World, spent some time social distancing with friends, and got our sprinklers working.

Today was a harder day. We were able to have a short devotional meeting for home church and watch an inspirational movie, but then I had a meltdown from overstressing. Luckily, trying to find a good thing for the day forced me to calm down before going to sleep.
